This Yorkshire Shaker inspired kitchen is designed to stylishly combine the practicality of a busy kitchen, easily accessible storage and utility room, the family dining area, an island and breakfast bar.
The linear nature of this kitchen is softened with curves to create the different working areas within a long rectangular floor plan. This combined with the use of framed and painted shaker doors helps conceal just how much is happening.
The peninsula complete with an oak butcher’s block, separates the dining from the cooking areas of the room and provides increased space for display and storage. An oak pull-out wine rack faces the dining table. Further space is provided by a special larder cupboard with oak internal drawers, shelves and racks. Oak is also used on the mantle shelf as well as on cornices and trims within the kitchen.
The central long island contains storage as well as the sink, and with open ends is also a breakfast bar. The main cooking area with hob and an extractor built into a mantle, extends to ovens and warming drawers set into tall cabinets each side of the American fridge freezer.
On the opposite side of the island to the cooking area, the adjoining utility room is functional and practical. New cabinets complement existing storage linked both through design and paint colour to the kitchen. With a central sink and worksurface over washing and drying machines, the area is flanked by tall cupboards linked by further wall storage over the worksurface.
