What is a Traditional Kitchen?
A traditional kitchen design typically incorporates doors that hang within frames using traditional butt hinges to produce that classic English kitchen feel. Door styles range from Shaker to more ornate styles with cockbead or other details worked into door frames and doors themselves. Natural woods like traditional oak are often used but a painted finish is also an option.
Do you install traditional kitchens near me?
Many of our customers are based in Yorkshire or the North of England, but we can install traditional kitchens anywhere in the UK.
How much does a traditional kitchen cost?
The cost of a traditional kitchen can vary significantly based on a number of factors. While cabinetry typically makes up around 40% of the total project cost, the final price is heavily influenced by the client's choice of appliances, work surfaces, and additional accessories.
As a general guideline, the cabinetry in a traditional kitchen may start from approximately £20,000. However, this cost will go up depending on the project's complexity and the number of cabinets required.
For a personalized assessment tailored to your specific needs and space, we offer free consultations. Please don't hesitate to contact us, and we'll be happy to discuss your requirements in more detail.
What is the difference between modern and traditional kitchen design?
One of the key differences between modern and traditional kitchens is that traditional kitchen designs typically use visible butt hinges for their doors, finished in stainless steel, brass or antiqued brass, depending on the kitchen look required. This type of design is often known as an in-frame kitchen as the door is hung off a framed surround.
Modern kitchen doors typically sit in front and over their frames and will have hidden soft close hinges. This type of door is called lay-on.
Both styles are extremely useful for different situations, for example the kitchen might be in-frame but the utility might be lay-on while both could use the same door style to provide a design link and continuity.
What are your traditional kitchen doors made of?
With natural wood kitchens, the frame, doors and door panels, are made in your wood of choice. If required, panels can be selected for a particular grain feature such as burr oak. Kitchens that require a consistent wood patina may achieve this through decorative veneer panels.
