The Arts & Crafts movement flourished in the 1850s as a challenge to industrialisation. The movement incorporated art, architecture, design and decorative arts, and of course furniture.

This contrasted with the ‘cluttered’ style that was typical of Victorian-era decorative design. Treske's oak furniture in the Arts & Crafts style began with a dresser, table and benches made for an exhibition of International Arts & Crafts at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Since then Arts & Crafts tables, chairs, dressers and sideboards, as well as bar stools, coffee tables and other furniture have been made at Treske.
