The Osmotherley kitchen was created by for a stylish village house. The brief was for a couple with a very active outdoor lifestyle who want to come back home to relax in their comfortable open plan kitchen dining and living areas bringing urban sophistication to their North Yorkshire Moors location.
The kitchen is designed in U shape with four principal areas and is painted in Farrow and Ball’s Purbeck Stone with walls in complimentary Worsted. Corners in the kitchen are made accessible through using LeMans corner shelving. The 1810 sink is set in front of a window overlooking the garden and is undermounted within the Calacatta Gold worksurface that flows around the rest of the kitchen. A Quooker Fusion tap was chosen for its sleek use and functionality. Dishwasher and fridge are also concealed within this run of cabinetry.
At the apex of the kitchen is the Miele induction hob operating beneath a Westin extractor. Wall hung cupboards complete the symmetry of the back wall. All cabinet and cupboard door are made in a frameless Shaker style to keep the emphasis on simplicity and clean lines.
The walk-in utility is designed to look like a larder cupboard – when opened up the full height walk in storage of the design is one that makes use of an existing alcove already sited the wall behind the utility cupboard. Storage is on shelves as well as on the back of the doors. On the same side as the larder cupboard is a Miele built in oven and a Miele steam oven.
The dining area has a dresser as further storage that is easily accessible from the table for glasses and wine from the well-stocked dual zone wine cooler. Cookery books, as well as glasses are concealed behind the double folding doors of the dresser top. The dresser’s worksurface was made in oak to compliment the table and chairs. Mood lighting completes the dining area.
The much-loved dining table was refurbished by Treske, and two Artisan Neva chairs were chosen to accompany a built-in banquette bench seat, both chairs and bench upholstered in the client’s chosen fabric. The dining area leads through to the relaxed and spacious sitting room.
